Steven P. Hochberg, Founder and President

Steven Hochberg founded Caliber Associates in 1988 to meet the challenges of executive search in the pharmaceutical and burgeoning life sciences industries. He has personally completed more than 500 searches, representing major clients in biotechnology, global and specialty pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices and the pharmaceutical services industries. Steve has fulfilled key executive and board placements in every market segment, from biotechnology startups to private and publicly traded companies throughout the industry. His clients are among the world's top life science companies, including MedImmune, Genzyme, Elan, Cephalon, Sepracor, Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals, Isis Pharmaceuticals, Vical, Santarus, SkinMedica, Genoptix, Sanofi Aventis and AstraZeneca.

 

Caliber Associates is grounded in Steve's prior experience in management of staffing, compensation and human resource functions in research, manufacturing and corporate environments. He worked for Rorer Group, Inc., FMC Corporation and Shell Oil Company, where he led key aspects of human resource management and labor relations, including arbitration and negotiations for an 1800-employee oil refinery.

 

Steve earned an MS in Organizational Development from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS from Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

 

Steve divides his time between Philadelphia and San Diego. Active in community and life sciences organizations, Steve has previously served within the Philadelphia Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, and he is a member of Pennsylvania BIO, Connect, RAPS, Drug Information Association, BIOCOM, and Biotechnology Industry Organization. He has played an active role in the BIO industry's HR Group.

 


Patricia Riley

Patricia Riley, Senior Executive Search Consultant

Patricia Riley has been with Caliber Associates since 2007 and has worked on numerous C-level and VP-level searches in biotech, specialty pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and diagnostics. Previously at Spencer Stuart, Patricia conducted a variety of executive level searches in the Life Sciences sector as well as the Consumer Goods, Logistics and the Financial Services industries. Patricia began her career at Drinker, Biddle & Reath where she managed over 300 health cases. In the Healthcare industry, Patricia worked for Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company and Independence Blue Cross. Patricia also has experience in health care provider contracting and was the front line communicator with the Pennsylvania Attorney General for grievance handling. Juliana Mozi
Administrative Manager

Juliana Mozi, Administrative Manager

Juliana Mozi has served as the Administrative/Office Manager for Caliber Associates since 2000. Over the past 12 years Juliana has led Caliber Associates in the areas of Administration and Finance. Her responsibilities include handling logistics and communications with clients and candidates to ensure all aspects of the search process are smooth, efficient and effective. Working closely with clients and candidates, Juliana is committed to smoothless teamwork and excellent client service. Prior to joining Caliber Associates, Juliana spent over 15 years working for a global pharmaceutical company, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, supporting Human Resources for the R&D organization. During this period Juliana worked with the Senior Management Team and was actively involved in recruiting and staffing particularly focused on working with international executives. Additionally, Juliana was a team member of the Professional and Organizational Development Group.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Tessa Ente
Research Associate

Tessa Ente, Research Associate

Tessa Ente brings solid research and administrative experience to the Caliber Associates team. Before joining Caliber Associates, she was a member of the Administrative team at Kyowa Hakko Kirin California, Inc., whose research focuses on developing antibody-based therapeutics. Tessa has been responsible for client and candidate interaction, as well as managing calendars and travel for entire organizations. Her experience includes overall executive support, planning events, new employee orientation and coordinating interdepartmental communications.
