Vice President, Research
A
Bay Area-based biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery of small
molecule drugs, which target specific cellular signal transduction pathways,
is seeking a Vice President, Research. This
position will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Discovery, and
will be responsible for providing the leadership necessary for the
incorporation of functional genomic and proteomic technologies for novel
target discovery and biomarker identification. Also providing, in vitro and in vivo
validation models of targets that progress through Drug Discovery and
Preclinical Development. This position
serves on the company’s management committee. The
candidate will have an M.D. or Ph.D. in cell or molecular biology or related
field. The successful candidate must
have substantial (10 years minimum) pharmaceutical or biotech industry
experience coupled with an outstanding scientific reputation and the
leadership ability to direct a world class basic research function. The exposure to the following therapeutic
areas is highly desirable: oncology, cardiovascular disease, inflammation or
